AOBFP Early Entry Certification Exam and Webinar The American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) is now accepting applications for the Early Entry Initial Certification (EEIC) examination . The EEIC application deadline is October 31, with a final deadline and late fee of $100 on December 15. The exam will be administered at Pearson VUE testing centers nationwide January 16–30, 2021. AOBFP will also host a live webinar for program directors and residents on Monday, August 24, at 6 pm CT, to discuss benefits, review eligibility requirements and answer questions. Risk of COVID-19 for Health Care Workers The authors of Risk of COVID-19 Among Frontline Health Care Workers and the General Community: A Prospective Cohort Study sought to assess risk of COVID-19 among frontline health care workers compared with the general community and the effect of personal protective equipment on risk. Game-Changing Saliva COVID-19 Test On August 15, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a new COVID-19 saliva test created by the Yale School of Public Health called SalivaDirect. The test uses spit from people suspected of having the coronavirus and requires no swab or collection device. S aliva tests are cheaper, simpler and less invasive than nasal swabs. The FDA also said the test could lower the risk to health care workers from collecting samples, as it is self-collected under the observation of a health care professional. Read more .
